This Privacy Notice covers all parts of the Juan Bautista De Anza National Historic Trail Junior Ranger Web Site. Other portions of ParkNet, and other web sites to which we provide links, may have varying privacy policies. Anza Junior Rangers recommends that you read these privacy documents before providing any information to organizations other than Anza Junior Rangers.
What information do we collect?
The Anza Junior Rangers site is designed to collect as little information as possible from all participants.
Any information we collect is “non-personally identifying.” Those who successfully complete the Anza Historic Trail Virtual Expedition may apply to become official Anza Junior Rangers. To complete this application, we will request a first name, age range and (for users under age 18) an e-mail address for a parent or adult guardian. This e-mail address will be used only once, exclusively for the purpose of contacting the parent or guardian so that the qualifying child may receive their Anza Junior Ranger badge and other membership materials.
Using this non-personally identifying information allows children to play and learn in a safe web environment.
We request only information that will allow a child to participate in the activities on the Anza Junior Ranger Web Site, and do not limit participation in any activity based on disclosure of personally identifying information.
What does the National Park Service do with the information obtained from visitors to this site?
Information collected from your child is kept on a secure server with restricted access. This information is deleted from the server as soon as your child finishes their site visit.
The National Park Service and the Anza National Historic Trail does not sell, give, trade or exchange this information with any other entity, whether governmental, private or non-profit.
Do you collect “cookies”?
A cookie is a file of information created through your web browser. Your browser places the cookies on the hard drive of your computer when you visit a site.
Some of those cookies allow you to interact with the site, to participate in games and learning activities, and to allow the web site to distinguish you from other site visiors as you move from one web page or site activity to another. Some cookies last only as long as you are at the site, others “persist” on your hard drive to allow you to log in to a site without a password, or to find your place more easily.

The National Park Service and Anza Junior Rangers does not create persistent cookies. We do not store any personal information in cookies or collect additional information about children through them.
Where is the information stored, and how is it kept secure?
We are committed to keeping all information collected from Anza Junior Ranger Web Site participants secure. All of the information is stored in a single data base. This database is protected with security and password systems to limit access, and only a few individuals have access to the room in which it resides.
