That’s alright. Commander Anza thought you were up to the task but I guess he was wrong. You will return to your small farm in Sonora. There, you will find the area in its tenth year of drought.

You will not be able to grow enough food for your growing family so you will look for a job. But times have been bad, so there are few jobs to be had. In the end, your children will have to leave the farm to live with other family members who are doing better. Some will even travel to California to join one of the new settlements along the Pacific Coast. You will struggle on, alone and sad.
